Saved by Spartina: Future/Building + Coastal Ecologies is an investigation into how the pairing of the foundational species of New England's coastal marshes, spartina, can be paired with a highly sustainable building material and form, cross-laminated timber waffles labs, to create buildings and ecologies that work in tandem to create integrated building and ecological systems. Together, these can help spartina and protectively coastal marshes to preemptively grow about sea level rise thereby creating a permanent ecological defense.
